Twitter Uses in the Classroom
How can you use Twitter in the classroom?
- Tweet students their homework every night.
- Shout-outs to students who do something great. (with permission, of course). You can tag a student who uses Twitter in a tweet congratulating them for doing something great. All of their followers and all of your followers will be able to see the tweet.
- Send updates about assignments. Edmodo down? Tweet about it!
- Send students updates on what to do if an assignment is due on a snow day.
- Tweet a "word of the day" with a definition.
- Tweet about your weekly assignments such as word study with links to the words.
- Connect with other teachers and share best practices.
- Connect with Ed-Tech developers and be the first to know about changes and new features.
- Send students reminders about due dates or assignments.
To the right is an example of a Twitter used for the classroom. The username is easy to find and remember, and the tweets are tailored to specific students using hashtags such as #4thperiod and #allstudents. |
